ORDERS MCLAUGHLIN & ASSOCIATES
SET TO APPEAR AT CHILD ABUSE CONFERENCE

The conference is highlighting their solution to “he said she said” court crisis Saturday, May 22nd

IRVINE, Calif. (May 10, 2010) – John McLaughlin, CEO of Borders McLaughlin & Associates, (www.bmaa.com), a firm specializing in evidence-based assessments in high-risk court cases, will be a featured speaker at the Committee to Stop Child Abuse on Saturday May 22, 2010 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Association for Bay Area Governments (ABAG) building in the Joseph P. Bort Metro Center, 101 8th Street, Oakland.  Mr. McLaughlin, the co-creator of the firm’s Family Violence Risk Assessment, will be talking about his company’s assessment process, the Family Violence Risk Assessment (FVRA) and how high conflict and high risk cases need to be handled differently within the family court system.

McLaughlin said “we are excited to be part of this grassroots conference presented by the Committee Child Abuse.”  The conference is featuring a group of experts who will be identifying the problems facing protective parents when they bring allegations of abuse to family court.  Mr. McLaughlin further commented “this is a real problem for courts in dealing with these complex cases and current processes are failing at protecting children from further abuse.”

According to Gail Steele, a member of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors and an Executive Board Member of the Committee to Stop Child Abuse, “We have gathered leading experts to speak about the Crisis in Family Court, and are excited to be hosting this event.”  The forum will provide an opportunity for attendees to tell their stories to Steele and others.  People from all over the United States will be attending this event.

“The Crisis in Family Court has been in the news a lot lately,” Supervisor Steele says, including a recent segment on The Dr. Phil Show, in which Mr. McLaughlin was a featured expert and instrumental in working with The Dr. Phil Show on this issue. The Elkins Family Law Task Force has also released their recommendations for reform.  “This is a real problem for victims of abuse, and we must provide more education and resources to the public.  The truth about what actually happens in courts across this nation on a daily basis must be told, and we need to do something about it now,” says Supervisor Steele.

The Borders McLaughlin & Associates Family Violence Risk Assessment is a fact-based process that uses technology, analytics, and years of expertise to combine human behavior, and evidence-based solutions to high-risk cases.
